I just had my alignment checked on my 92. I have checked this to factory specs but I'm afraid I'm ignorant of these numbers and calculations. Can someone help me understand these?

Left Front:

Camber -0.8
Caster 4.4
Toe -.10

Right Front:

Camber -1.4
Caster 4.5
Toe -.09

Total Toe -.19
Steer Ahead -.01

Left Rear:

Camber -1.4
Toe -.33

Right Rear:

Camber -1.1
Toe -.09

Total Toe -.42
Thrust Angle -.12

Stock Suspension. Thanks for your help guys.

Factory specs are stickied in this section and were not indicated on the printout.

Merchants checked my alignment for me.

Keith, I can read the information and I have already. I need help understanding it and the formulas associated with the above links.

I checked this stuff prior to posting.

Is there something specific you're worried about. FWIW, the only thing I see that's even a little worrisome is that the front camber isn't balanced as close as I'd like, but it's not really bad, either. For the most part, there's nothing alarming or that needs immediate attention.

Well, in particular I was looking at the right front camber. I know it's not off by much, I just wanted some understanding on the numbers. I'm no good when it comes to suspension work.

I was just looking at it like :oogle:

A little extra negative camber isn't that bad. The fact that it's 0.6 more than the left side isn't optimal, but if it tracks and drives straight I wouldn't worry about it too much. Keep an eye on tire wear in the front if it's an issue.

Your subframe might not be perfectly centered, but other than that, I agree with SHOAZ. Don't worry too much about it.

Ken, there wasn't any indication as to what you had read, hence the links. For the basic terms (camber, caster, toe) Google it, as most websites will include images that will make each term much easier to understand.

The mean value for each specification-range is what F*** intended the car to spec at when it rolled-off the dealer's lot. For example, the front camber is listed as -1.1° to +0.1° ; which actually is -0.5° ideal camber, with ±0.6° tolerance.

[*] camber - (listed) -1.1° to +0.1° / (actual) -0.5° ±0.6°

[*] caster - (listed) +2.8° to +4.8° / (actual) +3.8° ±1.0°

[*] toe - (listed) -0.23° to +0.15° / (actual) -0.04° ±0.19°
[/list]

Definitions:

Total Toe - sum measurement of the left and right toe (eg. [-0.10] + [-0.09] = -0.19)

Steer Ahead - sum measurement of the difference between the left and right front toe, (eg. [-0.10] - [-0.09] = -0.01) which can be used to cause the vehicle to track straight on crowned roads.

Thrust Angle - measurement of the rear axle alignment to vehicle centerline. (eg. [-0.33] - [-0.09] / 2 = -0.24 / 2 = -0.12)

How's that for a start ?
