Where did you guys with pre-filters find them for your Airaid? I've got the 450-260 Airaid CAI in my flex and am looking to order a pre-filter when I order my filter tune-up kit. Can anyone point me to a pre-filter? Thanks!

Got it from CarID... They had first forgotten it in the package and sent it after. Since I live in Canada, I had to pay for custody and brokerage fees... And it ended up more expensive than I thought... That pre-filter seems to do a good job at pre-filtering, but I don't know if it is adding any restriction. Last time I was at the drags, I tried and removed it... and didn't install it back. I don't want to highjack your thread, but since the thread is named Airaid pre-filter, I figure it is the right place to ask... So, anyone knows if it adds any perceivable restriction, or not significant at all...
Thanks,
Steve

Got mine from Summit Racing..only 28 dollars and free shipping. I can't for the life of me remember the part number, because they don't make a dedicated pre-filter for the SHO intake. I will research and try to get you the correct Airaid number.

Ahh, found it! Part # 799-472 is the Airaid pre-filter that will fit the SHO filter. What most of us have done is spend a few minutes and gather all the extra material on the pre-filter and pack it under the filter clamp so that the pre-filter looks much neater and isn't wrinkled. Here is a picture of mine:

Guys, can't believe all the internet buying. Don't you have a local speed shop you can support like Livernois? Keep buying from the net and we won't have any tuners and shops left to help us build our cars.

Actually, we don't have a local shop that I can buy from. I chose Summit because of their support of NHRA Drag Racing. But I am totally with you...being involved with a Scuba Diving Center, it is amazing how much people are using the internet to purchase...I would much rather buy locally, and do but when there is no store that carries the stuff you want or will price competitively then you don't have much choice. I will even pay more to buy locally, but when an item is 30-40% higher to purchase locally, it is tough to do. I also had the same problem with buying fishing equipment, none of our local stories carried the higher quality rods and reels that I wanted to purchase and were not interested in ordering them for me...so not much choice. But buying locally is my first choice.

Hi David, maybe you can answer my question. Does that pre-filter add any restrcition? I mean, going nuts, whe at the drags, would I be better without it and put it back for DD?
Thanks,
Steve

Hello steve142857,

The Pre-Filter does not add any restriction. I would not worry about removing it at the drag strip..

Any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
David

Whether it was the cooler air, or my driving or the pre-filter (K & N) on a K & N Round filter on my G8.... My times & speeds were up after taking it off.

BUT... I always use a pre-filter... as it keeps the bugs and other things from making my filter dirty.

Has anyone here ran a JL Audio stealthbox? and their impressions?

JL has always made top notch stuff, but 995 for 1 sub and box is a bit even though the box IS custom tuned for our cars. Has anyone enountered one yet?

OK. Maybe stupid question. What exactly does a Pre-Filter do and can a novice install it!

Andy

contemplating a 2011

A pre-filter keeps large particles out of the filter so that leaves, bugs, and etc. don't make it to the filter. Simple to install, it just slides over the filter and is held in place by an elastic band built into the pre-filter. Now you can get either black or blue for our cars.
