I had this in my 91. Replaced the module under the dash (above the glove comp) Problem Solved.
Instead of replacing it just take it out
Problem Solved.

Join the club, mine has been on for 5 years, and the black tape is not hiding it well enough.
I understand that while it is flashing, the airbag will not fire..... .which to me is a good thing. The early airbags had issues with too much force and injuring people, but it may not be a Taurus thing.
My lights indicate a bad ground, but I have never been able to fix it.
Quick hijack here- I know this thread is old. The air bag light flashed at me yesterday and I THINK the code was a 4 2 but I'm not 100% sure.
I know probably changing the module but I'm curious to know what that specific code might be.
42=LH Primary Crash Sensor Feed/Return Circuit Open.
Fix the short before you replace the module or you will keep destroying the thermal fuse and will have to keep replacing modules.
