I have had 3 other SHO's but my 95 is the newest. I recently had to replace the DIS. While it was down I went ahead and changed the valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals. When I finished and started her up it gave me an air bag light code 42? I've gotten codes before from the CEL, but never the air bag light. And I can't seem to find any info referencing the Air bag light. I have a manual but it doesn't have it? Has anyone encountered this problem? Silver 95 SHO

Center Radiator Primary Crash Sensor Feed/Return Circuit Open

Normal Operation

The voltage at Pin 18 (Circuit 619, PK/W) is approximately 10 volts (± 1 volt). Circuit 619 is connected to Circuit 625 (Y/LG) inside center radiator primary crash sensor. Therefore, the voltage at Pin 6 should be the same as the voltage at Pin 18. If the voltage at Pin 6 is lower than the voltage at Pin 18, the air bag diagnostic monitor will flash code 42.

Possible Causes

Low voltage on Pin 6 can be caused by:

An open circuit in the wiring harness in either Circuit 619 (PK/W) or Circuit 625 (Y/LG).

An open circuit in center radiator primary crash sensor across the PK/W and Y/LG wires.

Extreme caution should be exercised whenever dealing with the air bag restraint system.

Edit: More info.....

---------------------------------------------
DEACTIVATE SYSTEM

Turn ignition switch to OFF.

Deactivate system.

Disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor.

With Rotunda Digital Multimeter 105-00050 or equivalent, measure resistance across Pin 18 (Circuit 619, PK/W) and Pin 6 (Circuit 625, Y/LG) of the air bag diagnostic monitor harness connector.

Is resistance reading less than two ohms?

If yes, replace air bag diagnostic monitor. Reconnect system and verify system. Reactivate system.

---------------------------------------------
If no, check the resistance of the center radiator primary crash sensor
---------------------------------------------

Disconnect center radiator primary crash sensor from harness.

Measure resistance across PK/W and Y/LG wires in sensor connector.

Is resistance reading less than two ohms?

If yes, locate and service open circuit in the wiring harness between air bag diagnostic monitor and center radiator primary crash sensor in either Circuit 619 (PK/W) or 625 (Y/LG). Inspect all interconnections. Reconnect system. Verify system. Reactivate system.

If no, replace LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket. Reconnect system. Verify system. Reactivate system.

Thank you Biz! I couldn't find that info anywhere else. What manual is it available in? I will be shooting it this weekend. I have the cabling and pinout manual, I should be able to track it down. Thanx, Tye

I attempted to send you a message last night asking about the manuals or cd. But my computer went south! I gave up and went to bed. It was my ISP. ISP up this morning. Could you send me some info on the manuals? Thanx, Silver95SHO :bonk:

There's a link in my sig that you can click on to PM Russ about getting one of the service CD's. They are a very good source of info and I love mine.
