I want to exchange the factory cd player in my 92 SHO with an aftermarket one but dont want to lose the ondash controlls. ( i know i will probably lose the cassette/receiever, but the new head will receive, and i havent owned cassettes in maybe a decade)

Anyone know of any brands or gadgets that will let me use them in combination with an aftermarket headunit ?

I have only been able to find (on crutchfield) something that will work with certain sony's , plugs in the back of the head unit and splices into the indash controls. I would like to do something somilar with preferably rockford fosgate or pioneer since that's what the rest of my setup is made off and i like the way the work/sound.

Thanks,

Mark

Nope I don't think you'll be able to do anything about that. If you got a HU with a remote you wouldn't need the dash controls. Also stay away from Sony HUs. They aren't the greatest thing in the world.

I think RickieFrat had found something at one poitnt hat would allow you to use the on dash controls. From what I remember there was not much interest be4cause for the price....just reach down instead of up, ya know. IMO, the on dash controls are just as "out of the way" as the unit itself is.

I've had a Sony explode HU for probably a good year now and haven't had a single problem with it yet. Barely skips, great sound, reads almost any CD that has been scratched to ****. That and it looks really cool. thumbs_u

This company: http://www.soundgate.com/f2s-rac.html sells one for $100.

I don't think that's worth it at all... Good head units will have some sort of steering wheel or other remote. My Aiwa CDC-MP3 has a steering wheel remote and while it's not perfect, it's a little more convenient than the dash controls since it does more. Unfortunatly, it doesn't work unless I'm driving straight because it's IR and the rubber piece that holds it on to the wheel is hard to avoid while making manuvers.
