Dumb question. Would a dealer every change out rims upon reuqest if they had a taurus on the lot with the wheels i preferred or is that a completely unrealistic request?

Some dealers will not do that no matter how nicely you ask. Others may. Lincoln pretty much requires the dealer to sell a new or CPO vehicle with factory wheels. Not necessarily the ones that came from the factory, but ones that were possible to get from the factory. I would expect Ford dealers to have a little more latitude there. The time to ask the dealer for this kind of request is the evening of the last day of the month - if they still need to get units out to make their goals for the month, then people are suddenly flexible to do what they otherwise could not do...

Lincoln CPO warranty is 6 years from date of original purchase or 100,000 miles bumper to bumper warranty - all the same stuff that is covered in the original 4 yr/50k warranty but with a $100 deductible. That literally costs the dealer over $1000 to make happen and is why we sell a ton of CPO Lincolns, its a great peace of mind.

Morning all.

After 2 years of hating my '14 MKZ im thinking of biting the bullet and moving up to a '16 SHO. (Came from '08 Taurus before the Lincoln)

Having troubling finding what im looking for (for the right price) as inventory seems pretty limited (at least in Eastern PA/Jersey)

Looking at buying a pretty basic Black sho with the 401 audio, nav, sunroof and the taurus wheels. For some reason i absolutely hate the SHO wheels. I just cant get over them. I wouldnt mind the driver assist package but dont think i can justify the ~2k it costs. Also, pretty disappointed that there is no vista roof that is available like in the MKS.

Part of me says wait to next year as I think they would include that roof option, but Im really finding my 80 mile round trip commute to be annoying in the Lincoln. I know it is somewhat of a sin to put those kind of miles on a SHO but as far as a sedan goes that is roomie enough for the family and a baby seat and is something i wont want to drive into oncoming traffic during a commute it is either the SHO or a 60K+ Euro as far as im concerned (or a buick perhaps????)

Anyway, been lurking a bit here and just wanted to say hi and see if anyone had any advice or do's/dont's while shopping/pricing.

Thanks for any opinions.

I love my sho, but [I may get banned/hated for this but...] You may want to hold out for the 2k17 mkz with the 3.0TT ecoboost. Drove one at work today (before I tore it apart) and in Reserve-Sport trim its awesome. Lots of tq mgnt and power fades as the revs climb but its 400hp, 400ft-lb tq on premium. My SHO is quicker but its also tunned. Livernois motorsports is already doing great things with the 2.7v6 platform (same as the 3.0). the interior is nicely updated as well. Its also abt 500lbs lighter than my beloved SHO.

yeah, I think that will be a winner. but, the 3.0TT is "late availability" which means you won't see one on a dealer's lot anytime soon...

I am planning on a 3.0tt MKZ or Continental to replace my MKS - either late this year or early next. I want to make sure Livernois has developed a tune for it, though, before I pull the trigger. :)

Im a bigger guy ~6'-3" and feel pretty cramped in it. With my seat position the backseat is nearly unusable. (maybe 4-6" of leg space?) and even the passenger side with the seat moved up leaves little rear seat space. (oddly i have read that the SHO's back seat could be more cramped than the fusions but in test driving a '16 SHO it has MUCH more room than my 14 MKZ)

I feel every bump in the road. like... every single bump.

At around 80mph the car gets a rattle/hum and has not been resolved through numerous attempts from the dealer. (the real bitch is my 80mile roundtrip commute is done mostly at 75-80mph) If i go 70 its not there. If i go 90 its not there. I guess i should just drive 90 every day... (super annoying)

Sound system is MEH

It has terrible, TERRIBLE blind spots (for me). Again, this could be due to my size and seat position but I really struggle seeing my left (drive side) blindspot or rear passenger blind spot. The columns (between front and rear door or between rear door and rear windshield) are very wide and i struggle to see around them. I just dont seem to be able to adjust to the blindspot mirrors and they are no help for the rear blindspot (kind of hard ot explain, but bottom line is I cant see shit in the car).

I don't like being so low to the ground.

It is terrible in the rain (vision and handling)

Completely forget about snow... worst FWD i ever drove in any snow.

It just doesnt feel like "luxury". It is a bunch of small things that add up to my commute being miserable and every day i hate it more and more. So much that im now considering a 15K hit on trade in value.

My '08 taurus limited was superior in every measurable way other than technology.

The eco 4 motor is nice is has a good amount of power. Gas mileage is just ok. 20-25mpg.
Hello Hoots,
I traded 08 AWD Limited too. BIG back seat! Hard to beat that car in drivability big halo almost no vision block.
All my friends said I should put Ecoboost in that car. not buy SHO...

This is a classic example of you don't know what you had until it is gone.

I loved (still do) the look of the MKZ and sportier fusions. I think they are some of the best looking sedans on the road and that appeal drew me away from my "generic" taurus. Hindsight..

I need another "cruiser" for my driving habits and if I want something with some power under the hood that doesnt look like something my grandpa drove it think the SHO has the market cornered. At least for the price range. I mean.. I'd love an A6 or BMW i guess..

Well I am certainly considering waiting for '17 to evaluate all models but Im worried that the cabin size and vision issues im having with my MKZ will remain or become worse with more "sporty" versions. That fusion does sound bad ass and looks great from what i have seen though!

Once you get out of warranty and have to pay for all the stuff that goes wrong, at the stupid prices that German cars cost, your "love" for the Audi or BMW would disappear pretty quickly...

One more comment on the Lincoln 6 year/100k mile CPO warranty. After the original factory $0 deductible, 4 year/50K mile warranty runs out, you go to the CPO plan. Two things change. One you now have a $100 deductible as was posted above BUT you also do not get a free loaner car any more.

Hoots, I have the identical '15 SHO as to what you are looking at with the wheels that you like. I actually like the flower wheels and was disappointed that mine didn't come with them. If you buy the '15 I'm sure that we can work out a trade.

So as my search continues.... Multi Contour seats? Yes/No? (I may not have a choice but what if I did)

I've looked them up on the interwbes. what i've seen repeated:

Cool, but dont use them often
Tend to malfunction. If they do, you could have big problems.
Very comfortable and useful for those that do use them
Typically appreciated more by the passenger (wife) than the driver.

Any first hand opinions? Thanks!

multi-contour seats are awesome. They allow you to dial in the lumbar/bolster to really fit your likes, and that is important if you do long trips.
