Ive determined that the whine im hearing is comming from the timing belt. I just recently had it done, and ive heard of new timing belts whineing for a bit after install. Im gonna give it a while and see if it goes away. However is it possiable its to tight, if so how would i adjust the tension?

The timing belt tensioner on all MTX cars is manually set by the installer. You slightly pre load the timing belt, and tighten the lock nut. You will see on the timing belt cover, that there is a small acess door that allows you to adjust the tensioner. :thumb: If you are hearing a "whirring" sound, it could be the tensioner bearings.

When the tensioner bearings shit the bed, it is most definitely NOT a whirring noise. Ask me how I know. :frown:

My money is on your tensioner being too tight. Working from the passenger wheel well with the splash guard removed, look up and find the tensioner access hole. Loosen the nut, and with a 5mm allen key, slightly apply tension against the belt, and tighten the bolt again. Start 'er up and see if the noise is still there. Either it'll be gone, or greatly reduced.

allright cool,i found it. Now its makeing a squealing noise, so im assuming its to tight. So does this mean i wanna loosen the 14mm, then go counterclock wise the the hex?How much should i loosen the hex?
