What would I need to add the stock SHO cd player to my cassette deck? Would I need any extra cables and such? I have a tape player and storage rack in there right now...

Yes you will need an extra cord. I have done it in the past, the cord is from $30-$50 bucks used IIRC and is not to easy to get ahold of. Check ebay and do a search on here for more information.

You actually need 2 cords if you don't want to do any splicing. One is the cable that leads from the CD unit to the cassette player (some call it the DIN cable). The other is a Y-shaped cable that plugs into the long, flat gray connector in your dash. The other 2 ends plug into the cassette and CD for power. A red plug goes into the CD player and a long flat gray plug goes into the cassette where you pulled the one from it to plug the Y to. It's sorta like a piggyback cable. The Ford part numbers for the Taurus specific cables are:
"DIN" cable: F2DF-14588-AA
the piggyback cable: F2DB-19A170-EB

You can also use the cables from any JBL or Premium Sound equipped car that had a CD player such as the Sable or a Lincoln. Also the cables from some Mustang Mach Audio systems should work. The earlier ones like the Mach 460 plug right in but you can also use ones that are 97-up 7xx or 10xx but you will have to splice.

minnesho i would be interested in the cd player and cables so i can play cd's in my car....

Don't bother... if you just want to play CDs get a cheap aftermarket deck...

I sold the CD unit on ebay for $100, and the cable ofr $50.... you can get a semi decent deck for under that price.

I hollowed out the console and put a 6 disc CD changer in there. I bought the changer (Pioneer) for under $50 used on ebay. Put the controler in where the ashtray sits, so if I close the ashtray you don't know it's there. Plus put cupholder/coin tray in the spot where the storage bin used to be...That stock single CD unit is not the most reliable either...made by Sony.
