I own a '15 SHO with 49xxxx miles on it and randomly when I start it and accelerate slowly it seems like the transmission is stuttering as in it feels jerky for a few moments and then it will be fine.

I cannot find a cause for it, right now all I can muster is that maybe it has to do with it being so cold? The vehicle runs fine otherwise so I am hoping more experienced SHO owners can enlighten me on what is going on.

Do you accelerate this slowly in the summer? I have also felt this at super slow speeds. I have noticed watching videos of other twin turbo vehicles they have same issue. That you just have to put a little more gas into it to not have it happen.
This is just what I have observed and for me Has not been real jerky.
At -30f I have felt no studded but I let the car warm up for 15 minutes.

I've noticed since I bought mine that it is pretty jerky at slow speeds. It honestly feels almost like an electric car in regen mode when you let off the gas. I just attribute it to being heavy and AWD.

As xFallen noted above:
A) definitely let the car warm up in colder weather before applying heavy throttle
B) avoid lugging the engine. The stock programming is sluggish as it is, you will only exacerbate the issue
ALSO
C) when you let off the throttle completely, the PCM applies fuel cutoff logic

Reading all this makes me feel a lot better about it!
This is the first time I've driven the car in the cold so I'll take more time to warm it up before I take off.

A friend of mine has been turbo charged since a teenager. Also the best mechanic of 25 years I now. He always says to let the engine get to temperature before making the turbos work. Hot or cold weather. When in need though He's the only one touching my car. Doesn't like his pic taken!IMG 1308

What is the maintenance history on your SHO? Spark plugs, transmission fluid, PTU fluid, etc. Have codes been pulled from the PCM? Have the knock sensor wires been checked for chafing/rubbing? Is their crud buildup in the intercooler and/or pooling oil in the intake piping for the turbos?

I know the only codes that was showing up was the knock sensors they would reset them and they will come back later I guess I will have the transmission fluid check and the plugs and the knock sensor wires for chafing

This was the reason I used to remote-start my '13 as I was walking up to it - it I started it and went to move right away, it stuttered. I leased it, so I never really chased down the reason for it. I just got used to remote-starting it and letting it run for a minute.

Fast forward to March 2016, I leased a 2016 - Guess what? Same stutter right after it's started and trying to move. It's not so much a "stutter" as a "surge".

So I just remote-start the '16 too ;)

I remember reading somewhere there was a common knock sensor chafing location somewhere near the intake. If you haven't seen that you may search for it.

Mine does this a lot just in parking lots or my driveway at very low speeds such as when I reverse then put into drive and hit the gas it hesitates. I found a trick though that works, when I shift it into Drive I let the engine and tranny fully engage and let the engine idle start to move the car on it's own and then I apply the gas. If I shift to Drive and then hit the gas immediately, it hesitates. Now I give it a good full second or let it start to move under idle then hit the gas, actually stops form hesitating.

I had complained of similar issues including stalling. Had one code, low fuel pressure rail. Ford warranty recall fuel pump module and said TSB on stutter n stall, retuned ecm....car smoother then ever, best most powerful tune, quite my motor can't tell it running, get 3 mph more per shift and idles perfectly now.

Oddly enough, mine seems to have a little more pep since the FPCM was replaced. I tend to have a bit of a stumble if I don't give it about a min to warm up, I'm at about 37k on my 2013. When I pull the front end off I'm going to check the induction system for oil sludging. I think my next steps going to be the installation of a oil catch can, use some type of system cleaner to clear any build up on the valves and replace the sparkplugs and oil.

We had a little stumble/stutter, and mentioned it to our service advisor. He found a TSB related, and they flashed/updated something. Have not noticed it since. Sorry I don't recall any more technical description, but could maybe look it up on my invoice, if needed.

Looks like it was # 14-1015. Our service advisor has said that it could be a situation where it needed to relearn our driving habit before noticing change. But from the day we picked the car up after service, not noticed any issues.

edit to add, the issue was almost exclusive to when the engine was cold, first few blocks after startup.

I got safety recall 16S31/NHTSA recall 16v-621, replace fuel pump module.
I had error codes P0087 and once P061b limp home mode.
Listed as car running rough, stumbles, hesitate before acceleration.
TSB 14-0105
REPROGRAMMED PCM per TSB 14-0105
Car runs great now, not stalled or stuttered, no hesitation, very smooth, very powerful, motor much more quiet.
