AC removel????

i have a 89 mtx and the ac system is junk i was wondering if there was a tensionar or somthin i could do to take the place of the compresser

gut the compressor and reinstall.

You can bypass the A/C with a shorter belt (420K6 if I remember correctly) re-routed around the pulleys...but if you pull the compressor off, you run a risk of breaking the bracket it mounts to....I speak from experience. If you do this, either gut the compressor for bracing or build a bracket to keep things braced down there, cuz that bracket is a cast iron B*TCH to find anywhere...
