Upon purchase of my new 94 MTX i can see it has a few common issues, one i noticed today was my plugwells have oil in them and the plugs are almost completely submerged...(the car still runs perfict hahaha) well anyway, ive never had the divine privlage of pulling valve covers off an SHO, i am familar with how to remove the intake/snakes. Once i have the valve covers off can i remove the plugwells are the threaded into the head so i can drain the oil from them, or should i simply remove the sparkplugs and allow the oil to drain into the cylanders ? or simply do i have to sop it up with a rag/screwdriver poking ?

any ideas ?

Use an old squirt bottle and squirt it out before you remove the spark plugs. :thumb:

Turkey Baster:thumb:

It helps to get some 1/4" and insert it into the end of the baster and seal with electrical tape. This gets almost all of it, and then use a screwdriver with a rag on the end to soak up the rest.

Hhey I just thought of something!!! TAMPAX!!!:laugh_ti:

If you have compressed air, stick wand into well and hold rag loosely over top. Bursts of air will blow oil out and onto rag. Quick and easy. Plus wells should always be blown out with air before removing plugs because sand and other dirt gets trapped down there, and will fall into cylinder when you pull the plug.

Now I know the first thing i can do with newly hooked up air compressor.

Thanks Dudes the screwdriver/rag and rag/compressor blowtip worked great. the car had boch plugs in it i replaced em with the motorcrap 32PP's and a set of oem wires i had laying around from my 92mtx, that back valve cover was a pain, damn harness/fuellines! In the end it all paid off, cleaned everything up, gummedout the lower intake and sloshed some around in the snakes, car runs like a dream.

Now, onto the timing belt. hahahaha.
this is how you do a 60k in pieces. heh.
