To be blunt, NO car will last long if you're "on it" all the time. SHO's are good performing cars and the engines can last a very long time if maintained properly, and you generally won't **** it (the engine) if you hit redline a few times a week...PROVIDING you keep the engine in good condition. Regular maintainence (which can be expensive if you're not a do-it-yourselfer) and oil changes are a must. However, running the car hard all the time will **** your tranny in a hurry, IMO moreso for an ATX and if you like big smoky burnouts and hard power shifting then you'll **** your MTX in no time as well. Never mind tires, engine accessories, motor mounts & brakes. If you're asking "can I beat on the car" then I'll say this. If you wanna play you gotta pay...that goes for any car and it's especially true for a SHO. This is coming from someone who's owned 7 SHO's and taken out 1 engine and 3 MTX transmissions in that timeframe. I've since learned to curtail my spirited driving sessions to occasional as opposed to often. If you're looking for a 2nd "fun car" that's a little different, have a little cash to spare and can turn a wrench, then I'd say go for it. If you're still in high school with little automotive knowledge and this is your daily driver then I'd say do NOT abuse this car. Play with it on occasion, but if you rip on it every day it will be seriously broke in two months or less.
