Hello everybody,
I plan a long trip to Canada (2500 miles round trip)with my 94 SHO and 119000 miles on it. I am a little bit scared to think that something may go wrong though the car runs good so far. I replaced the radiator, the alternator and put on new tires but still I wonder what may need attention before such a long trip.
Do I need to change the serpentine belt? It looks good but I don't trust it since I have 119K miles. What else do I have to check before the trip?
Also, my CE light comes on for a few seconds about three or four times a day. Is that a big problem I have to fix before the trip?
Thanks for any help.
I like to drive but I think I may have to leave it alone and fly over. Any one tried a long trip whith such a mileage?

You should check the codes. If your CE light is coming on it is throwing a code. Around that mileage it might be time for a 60k i.e waterpump, belts,CPS, and timing belt. Good luck with the trip. thumb

Check your codes - you could have a sensor that's just beginning to fail right now that may become quite a hinderance on your road trip!

If your serp. belt looks good & dosent have a lot of cracks/chunks out of it - leave it.

Change your oil & check your tire pressures, ect, and you should be good to go.

Personally, I would have no problems with such a road trip in my car (with 150k miles). I drove between Omaha and Lansing in my Shadow (222,000 miles at the time) with no problems. The SHO will enjoy the easy miles :D

I took a 3k mile trip to Canada in March in my 94ATX with no major problems (cruise went out on way back).

Make sure all your fluids are topped off and your hose connections are all tight. Carry some extra coolant, window washer fluid and a quart of oil just in case and have a great trip.

Thank you all, I feel encouraged. I'm gonna check the codes and I'll let you know once back.

Over spring break I drove my sho to florida. it was about a 2200 mile trip there and back. my car had 124k at the time and befor the trip I got new wires and plugs and tuned up. Ran fine , no problems at all. also i had a 40 $ bet going with my uncle that my sho would get better gas mile. than his 2002 min van. that made me 40 $ richer. haha
