1) My Gates timing belt doesn't have all the white guidelines on it like I'm seeing in all the pictures...is this normal?
2) where can I find a replacement bolt for the 19mm harmonic balancer/crank bolt?
3) what bolts can be reused when swapping from 89-93 to 94-95 front steering knuckles? I will be replacing the hub nuts anyways, but will everything else fit back up?

I've never installed a timing belt, but I know that I've read in other threads that some belts don't have the marks and they are not really needed. Sorry to say this, but a search would be the best way to get more info on this issue.

I think I have a crank bolt I would ship you for $20. Others will probably chime in to beat my price. :)

The marked belts are easier to install, but doesn't matter that you don't have the marks. Just line it up good.

I believe you're supposed to replace the pinch bolts/nuts on the bottom of the knuckles with new ones anytime you loosen them. I'd probably re-use the bolts on TOP of the knuckles, but

ps- You seriously have a turbo Cavalier?? How fast (slow) is it?

The thing is that I got the Gates belt (T248 I think it is) so that it would have the ID marks, but for whatever reason this one doesn't.

Yeah, I heard that about the bolts on the bottom as well, I guess I just wanted some verification. Does anybody know if the bolts will fit (Doing Continental brakes as well)?

ps-yes I do/did. It's currently in pieces for a strip & engine build. When I blew the last engine (9 psi w/ Merkur T3), I would guess it was probably about as fast (slow) as the stock SHO. Unfortunately, the Cav is on the back-burner because the SHO continues to break down, and I have to use all my spending money to keep the daily driver on the road.

Assuming I can't get one from the dealer, I might have to go with that (unless someone does chime in ;) )
