I was at an SCCA autocross with the SHO, Packwood Washington, about 2008, and a guy was in my same car class with a Cougar V6, he claimed it was an SVT. I didn't know any different, and clearly the Contour SVT gear would bolt right on. Just now this thread made me wonder, and I couldn't find any confirmation that the Cougar was every _produced_ with SVT options. They pimped one out to the press but not a real thing. You can swap over the SVT intake manifolds, TB and slap on a CAI. But only the latter would have been legal in the class I was in.

Anyone ever hear different about the SVT Cougar? Just curious.

Never heard of them. Only the xr7. The tbird had the supercoupe, but it was a 3.8 sc v6. Csvt was a transverse 2.5 v6.

You are correct. The Cougar XR7 was the same platform as the Thunderbird Super Coupe. Both were 3.8L V6 topped with a small Eaton m90 blower. They were a fun car. I owned a 1989 and 1990 SC. The more I think...they were probably the precursor to 2010+ SHO's. They were big, comfortable, and pretty quick.

SVT never did a T-Bird or a Cougar. Off the top of my head they did.... The Cobra, Lightning, Contour, Focus, GT, and Raptor.
