I had a NEW A/C Compressor and Clutch installed and still I cant get the A/C to kick in.
I ran the codes and the only codes I got was I need to replace a 02 sensor.

I checked the Prssure on the low side and it reads full.

I had it converted over to R134A about 2 years ago and it worked great for about 6 months, then blew just warm air. :madflame:

Brought it back to the Shop and I was informed the compressor was junk. :rant: So I ordered a New one. By that tiem that SHOP was on my **** list from other work they did and ****** up on.

Any I deas on what to do.

Thanks

Has the new compressor been installed? Was a new accumulater/dryer installed, and a new oriface line? Was the system COMPLETELY cleaned of the old R-12 oil and any other crap that accumulates in the system?

Most suppliers of new or rebuilt compressores will not warrant the A/C compressor, new or rebuilt, unless all of the above is done.

If your A/C compressor will not engage check the following;
Low pressure switch, jumper the connection with a jumper wire. If the compressor engages then the switch is bad. If it still will not engage;

Check the wires between the switch and the compressor for continuity. If there is continuity then the wires are OK.

Check the clutch coil by applying battery voltage to the coil at its connection or at the low pressure switch connection. It (coil) should become a powerful magnet.

If the above is all OK, then check the pressure in the system. Low pressure will not allow the clutch to engage. If you have low pressure you have a leak in the system. rangerj

Where is the Low pressure switch.

I can't find it in my Chilton's book.

Also I replaced the loose corroded high and low connectors with brand new ones today.
It is reading on the low side Full on the gauge.

As for what was replaced.

1 New A/C Compressor with new clutch already on it.

And since I paid $125 2 years ago to have it trnsfered from R12-too R134A.
I assume they evauated the system.

As for the Dryer and other stuff you metioned I have no Idea if it was replaced when they did the conversion.

thanks

The low pressure switch should be on top of the accumulator dryer. It has a two-wire connector attached to it. If the high and low pressure lines were replaced the low pressure line should have an accumulator dryer attached to it, and the high pressure line has a new oriface in it. rangerj
