Did a search on this and it looks like it may be the clutch and/or pulley? The 89's a/c blows ice cold (40 degrees out of the center vent) and was converted to 134a previously...BUT when the compressor is engaged, it rattles and makes a rapid knocking noise.

Do I need a $33 pulley or the expensive clutch part? Also, I'm not too familiar with how it's put together. I did remove the clutch face on the 95, remove a shim, and replaced it and got that compressor to keep from sticking (working great). This one isn't sticking...it's just noisy.

Just not sure how the clutch/pulley assembly is put together. I hear one of them as a giant PITA snap ring. What do I need to fix the noise?

I noticed since I unplugged the round connector behind the glovebox (to quiet the damned clicking BDA) that my compressor now runs constantly w/ the a/c on and never cuts out. This can't be good.

Any ideas?

If temperature and load conditions exceed a certain threshold, it is completely normal for the compressor to run at 100% duty cycle.

Compressor knocking can be common at certain low charge levels. Make certain the system is properly charged.

I checked it at full max a/c 60* and it was within the properly charged range. Maybe the thing is just on it's way out.
