The A/C cold air only comes from top of the panel facing the glass, not from the 4 panel registers facing front seats any more. If keeping touch the a/c control switchs, then once in a while, I can make the cold air blowing from the 4 panel registers facing the front seat. What is the problem, vacuum line, blend door actuator, or others?

The switch from r12 to r134a seems make the air cold, but still no air from 4 panel regusters. No error code when test the ETAC.

In winter, the hot air can blow from everywhere as needed.

My '89 has the same problem. If you empty the glove box and move the tab on the side that lets the glove box open farther, you can see the stuff behind it. On the left, there is an actuator that changes the air flow from defrost to panel. On mine, part of the plastic arm apparently broke off and the metal actuator arm will not stay attached. You can connect the two, but the retainer is gone. I tried a temporary repair with duct tape, that lasted about 2 months.

I haven't checked on what is involved in fixing it, I'm afraid it may require removing the dash.

Does it mean the vacuum actuator has problem? But I check the outside appearance of the vacuum actuator and it seems Ok, and able to hold vacuum.

Anyone can explain further?

Mine would only blow out the defrost, no matter what air temp I wanted. I looked at the vacum line on the engine side of the firewall. It comes out by where the two heater core hoses are. Anyway, it had gotten really stiff and brittle where it made a bend and there was a hole on one side. It broke right off when I messed with it. I cut the ends clean and used electrical tape to tape it up, which seems to work fine for now. Don't know if this is your problem, but its something easy to check.
