About 2 years ago I replaced the suction tubing / dryer assembly and the discharge tubing on the A/C system.

I didn't replace the condenser or evaporator.

It started OK,then the compressor quit after about a week. I replaced the switch, etc. and still no A/C.

I couldn't do anything for a couple of years and then discovered I needed a new coil.

About two weeks ago I replaced the coil, pulley, and clutch plate with a kit, and the A/C was back on and blew Ice cubes.

So I figured I had conencted lines properly since no refrigerant leaked out.

After about two weeks (yesterday), the compressor would come on intermittantly and the air was not very cold.

I charged the system and it sucked in three cans of Castrol (from Castrol conversion kit from J.C. Whitney) faster than I could cuss.

So now it is blowing warm air and obviously .... I have a leak.

I'm now on a mission to fix this thing once and for all.

Can anyone recommend what to use for:

(1) a leak detection kit to use (UV type)?
(2) reasonably priced manifold gauges to monitor the suct and disch press.
(3) reasonably riced vacuum pump?

Regarding (3), I may just take it to a shop to be evacuated and recharged after I find (hopefully) where it is leaking.

Thanks.
