Well, I took the SHO in for service and to get the air fixed, an SES light, and an oil change. 1100 bucks later the air still does not work. They said that the system has hydrocarbons in it and that someone may have tried to fill it with propane. The problem is, they recommend new rubber hoses for the ac system before they will recharge it. Apparently though, no one makes these hoses. Where can I get them? Also, what other issues am I going to run into with the ac system being filled with something like this? I am new to the Chicago land area, so I don't know of a good SHO repair shop, so any recommendations on that would be great too. Thanks guys, appreciate your help.

You might be able to get used hoses from midnightauto on ebay (I've gotten butt loads of good parts from him). I would replace the drier while you are at it, about $60 here is St. Louis. I know nothing about hydrocarbons or filling the system with propane, sounds odd. But I think a second opinion is in order.

Presumably, the shop used their tester and analyzed the refrigerant. Most reputable shops won't even touch a system after it's been corrupted except at great expense to the owner. Sorry.

See if you can reach Mike at MidWestSHO. He's here on the forum. If he can't do it, he should be able to give you a referral.

read that..

now..

do not spend a fortune having someone replace lines that you do not know are bad.

you need to have the system pulled into a vac to remove all that crap.

the other option is to remove one of the fittings and let it bleed out. then re-charge with 134a from autozone...

id offer to do it, but i cant have anything other than 134a in my machine..

if you feel like driving to st louis ill bleed off the system for you and show you how to recharge it yourself.....

only then if this dosent work (very cheep i might add) replace the entire a/c system

fwiw ive done many cars the "cheep" way and they do ok
