A/C is blowing thru defrost vents

there was one for sale here a month or so ago, i just drilled a hole in the grey arm and installed a bolt and double nutted it so it would pivot and not fall apart.

What is it exactly that has to be replaced?

I'd like to know what all was done. My brother's has this problem and we've been given many suggestions. I've tried tracing the colored vacuum lines that go from the EATC behind the dash. I haven't found any issues so far. I'd like to get an idea before we remove part of the dash this winter to take a look at it. We have some ideas to what it is, but if someone can pinpoint the exact place, that'd be great.

If you mean my situation then, if you open the glovebox and to ypur left you'll see a silver valve that's connected to a grey arm. That arm controls a door and that's what broke off. I didn't have to take my dash off for that. You just have to be good in aerobics and have tender loving hands that's real steady.
