Need a focused and specific description of the problem. All we have now is a bunch of not very useful stuff.

I hear you Steve, but with 200k+ I'd have to lean towards the compressor itself (airgap) I've had a run of late model Escorts latley that had CCRM issues though, but they were not intermitten.

I've had similar A/C issues. But I have no sunroof.
Basically the A/C will work:
-The first 20 minutes of driving
-or at really really high engine RPM
When it does kick off it blows air that is a little bit warmer than the outside air.
however when I go on long cruises (usually from DC to Baltimore) I dont notice it kicking off.
One of those things where I know I will end up spending $300+ so I keep putting it off. But its annoying as heck when it gets hot in DC with a black car with no sunroof and no A/C

Check your clutch airgap. Perform a shimectomy as needed.
