about 2 months ago my heater core blewin my '91 MTX, and im finaly getting aroudn to doing somehtign about it. finaly after getting everythign else off i ran into some problems first the dash i couldtn get off but finaly got that one, i have all 5 bolts off the heater box but the 2 a/c lines are giving me a really hard time. any suggestions? also would yall suggest replacing the evaporator core as well since im already there?

the A/C system was dead when i got the car 9 months ago so i think theres prob a leak somewhere either that or it was never topped off.

There are springs in the flared area where the A/C lines connect. The spring can be prevented from expanding outward by corrosion. Spray them with a penetrating oil and work at them. The srings have to be expanded by the "tool" or they will not allow the connection to come apart.

As for your evaporator core, have it pressure tested at a good radiator shop. If it is not leaking and losing pressure it does not need to be replaced. Get the chemicals from an auto parts store or on line A/C supplier and clean it out yourself, or have the radiator shop do it.
