I bought a new electrical connector for the A/C clutch from Rock Auto and wanting to know with wires do I connect. My old connector is missing so there is a black and yellow wire which I found that I got power to and then a reddish or black wire. What I want to know is do I slice the the hot wire on the bottom of the connector or the top. The new connector comes with a brown wire on top and a red on the bottom so just need to know how the wiring goes into the clutch switch.

it does not matter at all

it just needs a circuit to pull in the coil

Well a follow up. Got the connector on and the A/C started blowing cold air for about 5 minutes and then shuts off or starts blowing hot air. Low on freon? Have to do a search to see what I can find.

typical symptom of a/c clutch with too large of gap.

when it starts blowing hot air, check to see if the a/c compressor is turning. if not, carefully tap the clutch with a stick/broom handle and see if it pulls in and starts to turn. if so, the clutch gap needs to be re-shimmed tighter. there are several threads describing 'how-to' if you search.

Well, I agree but I have already took out a shim from doing my search and it still does the same thing. I think the gap is like 20 thousandths now. Could it be the clutch? It blows cold air when it is going. I see a lot of brown dust in that area
