It seems that I have to replace the clutch on my compressor, and before I do it, does anyone know offhand if this can be done without removing the compressor and unhooking the A/C lines? Or is it just simpler to bite the bullet, remove the compressor completely and recharge?

And while I'm at it, does anyone have an A/C compressor clutch they want to sell? :) It's for my blur 94mtx.

Thanks!

To remove just the clutch there is no need to remove the compressor. Just the bolt in the center and gently pry the clutch off.

There is a washer that acts like a shim that you might be able to remove to get your compressor working properly again. The discription should be in the ford manual some where.

The A/C clutch has two surfaces, one on the face and one on the pulley. They should both be replaced. The face is removed by removing the nut or bolt and the pulley is removed by removing the snap ring. The snap ring is bevelled and the bevelled side should face you when it is reinstalled.

The compressor does not have to be removed to replace the clutch. it is usually easier to get at the snap rings through the wheel well opening.
