OK, i have a compressor from a 1990 sho that i want to place into my 89.

Unfortunatly, it is open. I have the 2 lines still connected to it but it wasnt sealed. I was wondering if it was safe to open it up and clean it out with some laquer thinner or some type of solvent and then reuse it.

It has maybe 70k miles on it and im sure it would be fine. I just wanted to make sure if it was safe to use it after cleaning it or if cleaning it is even necessary.

Has anyone cleaned out a compressor? I will be using 134a as apposed to r12. I want to make sure this time (argh....i hate ac systems) it wont gum up and fail.

Any tips anyone?

Thanks In Advance.

Use a/c flush solvent and roll it over a few times and let it sit upside down for a few hours and make sure you oil her up before installation.
