Seems like my AC clutch is slipping a bit (a bigger issue when it is really hot or in stop&go traffic). I've already removed a shim a while back, so I figure since I'm going to have the whole front of the engine apart for water pump I should replace the AC clutch at the same time.

Which parts are needed? Looking over Checker Auto parts selection there is a Hub you can get or a whole clutch assy. The whole assy is $130 or so and the hub is only $35ish. I'm wondering if the hub is the only wear part or if you need the whole assy. Any clues?

I also want to make sure I get the right one since I know the SHO compressor is not the same as SLO. Is the 10P15F compressor the correct one? I don't have the manual handy...

Thanks

I'd get the whole thing. Wouldn't want the coil to go bad after it is all put back together.

I second this as I had a coil go bad after I replaced only the clutch and it took out the front seal on my compressor, so it cost me a compressor also.

A little over a year ago I got a new clutch and hub kit from autozone at around the $90 mark give or take a few. It's well made and works great. Comes with an assortment of shims. Make sure you have a *good* pair of wide width snapring pliers. A cheapy set from Kragens tormented me. I drove to NAPA and got a nice pair, NAPA labeled, made by KD tools. Shoot, took well under a minute to remove the snapring.

That sounds like the right compressor model number.

Don't forget to check ebay for the clutch kit. I got mine from a guy in Texas who sold a/c parts, but don't remember the business name. Great deal (complete kit, clutch, coil, shims) at $10 plus shipping (fast too). Probably not quite the right season to see a lot of them on ebay but worth a look.
Plus good advice from everyone, get the whole kit and good snap ring pliers. I didn't and struggled too.

Sorry - was busy for a few days and didn't get to check back.

Cool. Thanks for the tips. I think I know which kit to get now.
