I got .33" on one side, and .29" on the other. This is too much, no?
If the gap is out of spec., does this mean the clutch does not engage at times?
I am pretty sure the clutch is always engaged.
My compressor is only a year old.
I topped off the refrigerant.
It just won't blow COLD. It is only mediocre...sometimes while driving it gets a bit cooler, but it NEVER blows REAL cold. Whether at idle, or cruising down the highway... it fluctuates between "somewhat cool" and "not so cool".

Gee whiz. NONE of my accessories seem to work right! The AC compressor/clutch AND the alternator have BOTH been replaced within the last year, and neither one seems up to par. Could the serp. belt not be tensioned properly?

I plan on checking/cleaning the condensor ASAP.

To be honest I always suspected my AC blend door was sticking since mine never seemed to blow real cold either. I even replaced the compressor after I had the shaft seal go out on the original after 120,000 miles and couldn't find a suitable relacement. Then this summer the new one with only 25,000 miles on it wouldn't engage after the engine warmed up unless you did the broomstick coaxing. I ended up finally removing the ship/spacer and it blows cold, real cald at last. I got concerned that maybe the compressor wasn't dis-angaging but after watching for several cycles that doesn't seem to be the case. Guess they just never stayed locked in long enough before.

thanks for the info.
I noticed something odd today: My volt gauge drops about .5 volts when I am using the AC. If I turn it off, it goes right back up .5 volts. I turned the VENT on, and I noticed the .5 voltage drop. Isn't the compressor what drinks the volts? If so, why did it come on in VENT mode?????
