I just bought a 92 w/134k. I have everything to do a front and top 60k and Im gonna start on it in the morning. I have 2full days to get this all done which shouldnt be a problem. The battery exploded on the PO and toasted the ac system. It runs and drives fine now, but I want to gut and bypass the compressor while im in there to avoid any future problems. How long will this take having never done it before and is there an easy way to discharge the system?

Any shop should discharge it for you for little or no money or you could just loosen an A/C line and let it out that way.

I just opened the garage door and vented the system when I did mine. Though mine didnt have much in it anyway. Should be pretty easy to do while you are doing the 60k. What took me the longest was getting the pulley off the compressor and gutting it.

getting the pulley off's easy with the right size chisel and a large metric Ford wrench. (eg large hammer).
