Wheels by year:

1996 - Painted standard, Chromies optional (the 1996 chromies are finished better than the 1997/1998 chromies, but are the same basic design)
1997 - Painted standard, Chromies optional
1998 - Chromies standard
1999 - Different design entirely. Machined alloy--same as most 1999 SLO SE models.

Didn't the SLOs have 6" wide rims? The Contis had the 6.5" rims like the SHO. (I think)

For '97 I think the only options were chrome wheels, leather interior, CD changer and maybe factory cell phone. Mine has none of those options. :) They came pretty well loaded out of the box anyway.

Gen III SHOs tend to run from the high 14s to the mid 15s in the quarter. As such, they are a bit slower than the Gen IIs and Is, but not a lot. The car is, after all, a sedan. A sport sedan, certainly, but a sedan none the less. As I understand it, from my research, this was, in fact, Ford's intent.

Once again, we try not to do the flame bait thing at this forum. Please keep that in mind when posting.

Here's another pic of the '99 rims:

IMG 0003

I like the '99 wheels better than the not-shiny-enough alloys, and I am not exactly big on chrome. The clearcoat on the '99 wheels also gives a pretty nice shine when clean.

On another note, and I don't want this to turn into a flame war, but I feel this sums it up quite nicely. People in the SHO world are under this false assumption that the 3.0/3.2 is a supercar compared to the Gen III. You are very misled. I'm not going to sit here and spew figures I found in a magazine, either, but everyone that has driven a v8sho understands that what it lacks in the holeshot it makes up for in sound, comfort, style, and handling.

My '97 has all the options, it even had the cell phone but the previous owner removed it except for the microphones in the headliner and it also still has the little antennae on the top just behind the sunroof. I get a lot of questions about that.

When I first saw the SHO with the chrome wheels it was in November 97 and I was hesitant about buying the SHO with those wheels. They grew on me and now I really like the looks of the chrome wheel. My SHO was stolen Oct 02 but I still love hanging around on this forum.

Nice pics. I've always been a fan of the white Gen 3's. They definately sound good. Even better when you add after market exhaust! :naughty: :hail:
