What direction is the movement?
12 and 6?
3 and 9?

Things that come to mind are:
Ball joint
Tie rod
Wheel bearing
Tension strut rod
Uppewr strut mount
Loose steering rack

When you say a new ball joint I am assuming you replaced the lower control arm correct?

You do need to make sure the ball joint stub goes in the knuckle correctly. There is a groove machined out to allow the bolt to go through.

Also I am assuming you removed the strut rod. Make sure you put it the correct way. If you put it in backwards it will do what you are describing.

its 3 and 9, the play is in where the stub comes through the lower part of the hub..... and yes new control arm everything is on properly, also new tie rods i took it to a guy i know who has a shop and we put it up on the lift and its loose in the before mentioned spot... almost like the channel for the stub is worn to large...

The stub you are talking about is the ball joint? A bad strut top will cause 3 and 9 play. Also put your hand where the inner and outer tie rods connect and move the wheel. If you feel play on the nut the inner tie rod is bad.

Make sure that the junk yard knuckle has the abs sensor intact, It'll be almost impossible to get the sensor out of your old knuckle without messing it up.

Any '94 or '95 Taurus with ABS will work. Just remember to look for the ABS sensor as not all SLO's came with that option.
