95 atx sho problem

Well alright i have a 95 sho atx and it has a weird buzz noise is coming from the back of my engine down blow i check the temp senor thats in check engine is not on so i have know idea what thats all about. Thats one problem the other is when my car goes to shift 1 to 2 its slams into gear almost like a neatrual drop it and i think it skips a rpm , had my transmission checked out they said it was fine, i thinks it one of my sensor. Does any one know about these problems.

I have been getting some noise to since I got my car back together. I was wandering about the temp sensor since I cut the front of the air box to let more air in...

Wish I had the answer but I will be watching close.

i had to have my VSS (vehicle speed sensor) replaced this past fall...it popped a code, and my car was shifting like a retard. hard shifts, mainly 1-2...it was holding gears to about 4000 then dropping hard into the next. also downshifting when not required/requested.

Yea thats what it does holdes the gear then slams. Do know where the speed sensor is located and how much does it go for.

I just did mine on my 94 and its a PITA. VSS is less that $20 from a parts store. It is located on top of the tranny on the passanger side and is held be a 10 mm bolt if I remember it right. Basically follow the speedo cable until you hit it.

yeah i couldent even find it so i had my mech do that and the O2 sensors...he said that he pulled off a cover that the VSS is attached too, and that was a lil easier. try to take some pics when you do yours, it could help many people!

Well i never replaced my vss because my mech said i didnt need to and if it was gone the speedo wouldn't work but anyways this is now whats happen ever time i start my car it idles a little weird it goes 1000rpm to 750rpm and just keeps kinda boucing and then when i put it drive and start going it doesnt really wanna go, it seem like its not getting enough gas and it still slames 1st to 2 gear. so i dont know i think i going to just rebuild the tranny. so any idea would be great at this point.

well its up to you, take an hour or 2 and about $50 to replace the sensor, see if that solves the problem...or go ahead and put a new $2000 or so tranny in.

check your codes, if your VSS has acted up since the last time your battary was unplugged, then it'll show a code 452 (another forum member is having the same issues in another thread right now, and i had my VSS switched a few months back, solving all my ATX woes)


p.s. where did you go that they checked your tranny?

yea i thought the same thing cause its not right, and i was wondering if i manual shift in the atx sho would that mess the computer up cause when i do the car way better and shifts better.

yeah i think he's talking about me. the car is shifting weird and cruise sometimes doesn't work. also had a code 452 which is vss so that's gonna be changed soon.

VSS FTW, Mine went out also, I replaced it and did a trans flush and it shifts butter smoothe now. If you are good with your hand like I am then it should take you about 2-3 hours. Good luck!

Ohh yea and BTW, mine NEVER threw a code, onmly code I ever got was a TPS code. As a matter of fact thats the LAST code ive seen in over 4 months, everytime I check the codes for kicks, it always spits out and ALL OK code.

Heh, the only code I ever get is a 225 (knock sensor). No CEL tho. Sometimes mine will hold and then shift when under load, or just shift slowly. It's only occasional tho.
