95 atx getting too warm with A/C

I know...pretty much my first post. I am very knowledgeable of the search button, have used it, and still do not have a good answer. My SHO will stay between the R and the M without the air on. As soon as i turn it on, no matter whether i am on the highway or stop and go, she climbs. It has reached as far as the middle of the N before i shut it off. I can turn the air off, and watch it go back down over time. Right now its pretty hot and humid around here, and its making it for some uncomfortable driving. Things i have checked:

1. Coolant level is full. It does look pretty rough, and i know I need to have it flushed, but could that cause the overheating?

2. Fans are both working properly. Have seen them both spinning and moving air so that isnt the culprit.

dirty coolant can cause overheating, flush everything and see how warm it runs again. i would also suggest pulling your radiator and cleaning it inside and out using something relatively strong. this will ensure max heat transfer

fans only make a difference below like 30mph anyways, even if you removed them it should still run cool on the highway.

make sure your radiator isnt falling apart, and clean any buildup off your condenser too

you could have the radiator flushed and or cleaned with a chemical. You can try sealign around the radiator to direct more air through it as well. Also you could try a duel core radiator as there not to expensive. However the stock cooling system should be fine and upgrading is kinda just putting a band aid on. maybe replace your thermostat if the coolant flush doesnt work, maybe its not opening all the way. I actually have a brand new thermo if you interested pm me.

Make sure your low speed fans are coming on with A/C selected. There are high speed and low speed and they each have there own relay in the ccrm and then the dropping resistor located between the fans (its made of ceramic and can break).

good point, that happened to my car, my ac wasnt working replaced my ccrm and it fixed it. I have a ccrm for your car too lol if you wanna try that pm me.

Thank you everyone for the replys. This forum has been very helpful. I did turn on the A/C and checked the fans....they were both working fine. I am going to try the flush i guess first and see if that helps. I will report my findhings.

With the ac one and fans working does the ac blow cold? as it runs longer does the ac not work as well? you might have a problem with the ac condinser, as the air is pulled acroos the condenser then the radiator it exchanges the heat to the air. if the condenser is blocked it will not let the air to the radiator. at home depot the have home condenser spray for the outside clean it and recheck . also ckeck the temp of the lines in and out of the condenser it should have a pretty good temp drop aprox 20-50 degrees depending on climate etc.

Heating Problems

I second the idea to replace the coolant first including the thermostat, if it has not been replaced for a long time. I will almost guarantee you that your overheating problems will slowly dissipate. Good Luck
