94' SHO:Need Advice

I just bought my 94' SHO with 112,000miles on it. Anyway I was showing my freinds my new purchase and one of them told me to rev it for them, I did and that is when I noticed the problem. Even with the pedal floored it won't let me go above 4000rpm. It goes up to 4k then just sits there and stutters. Did I buy a lemon? Or is there something that can be done to correct this? Any help would be appreciated!!!!

no, it is only going to let you rev her up so much, there is a logic inside the computer that at a certain rpm, it starts shutting off cylinders so that it won't harm the engine, I know some one else can elaborate on this but that is the reason, the same way the NASCARs engines do that. So just have em get in, strap them you in, and gun it getting on the highway, where you will be cool to let er have it!

Yeap, it's an ATX, right?

It won't rev past 4k while in neutral so as to not overheat the toque converter. When in drive you can go up close to redline, right?
