94 Sho atx O/D button dont work

My O/D button don't work.
I took apart my shifter and the black wire was broken off half way down.

Here is where it gets tricky.

The black wire has 2 smaller solid white wires in it.
How can I find out which one goes to the right one.

Or is it possable to just buy the wire and connectors and if so How do I get to the other end inside the shifter ****.

The two white wires do not have any polarity.

The can be conected whatever way possible.
