94 ATX Pinging at 2k RPM

I have just noticed in the last couple of days that while driving on city street around 35 to 40 MPH with the overdirive off the engine will start pinging. This only happens when you give it a slight increase in throttle around 2000 RPM. If you stomp on it the pinging is not there or when you go from a complete stop easy or ******* the throttle it is mot pingging either. Only pings at city speeds with gradule increase of throttle. Has any one else had this problem or have a possible solution.

Try a higher grade of gas, or a better source for your gas.

Has the car had any 60k? This could be a result of badly needed maintainence.... along with bad gas.
