Have a 94 SHO ATX with 199,000 Miles. Just had both CV/Axels replaced and a complete brake job and the clicking/grinding noise is still present. I notice it around 25-35 mph. The clicking comes and goes. If I put it in neutral while still moving the noise kinda goes away but returns when I rev the engine. Sound like it is comming from the middle of the car but is more noticable on the passenger side. Checked all fluids and no burnt smell from trans. Does anyone have a clue what this might be? I have exulsted all my resources including the Factory Service Manual.

You're a little too vague in your description. Can you pinpoint where it is coming from specifically? Do you think it is coming from the motor? Does it only happen in motion? Give us a little more detail and we can do a better job of helping you out.

Thanks for the reply. I just took it out to see if I could a better idea of where it was comming from. I ran the living dog crap out of it for about 15-20 minutes and no noise :madflame: !!!! When it was doing it earlier today, it sounded like it was comming from the middle of the trans and was doing it while in motion and in neutral while reving the motor but it does not sound like it is comming from the motor. The motor purs like a kitten and growls like a tiger when you romp on it :thumbs_u: . Other than that the car runs like brand new.

Well I just figured out my problem. It started making the noise agin as I was going down the freeway this morning. So I pull over, pop the hood, and start reving the motor from under the hood. Come to find out it is just the AC Compressor Clutch poping back and forth making the clicking/grinding sounds. Makes me feel real good cause that is pocket change compared to a new trans!!! Thanks for all your help.

Check it out closely. When my ATX's A/C clutch failed, it was the hub actually cracked and separated from the pulley. I replaced both the clutch and the pulley and it was good as new.

I checked it out today due to having to put in a new alternator. I see where the clutch is seperated from the pully. About how much do they cost and is it ok to drive for a week or so without causing any further damage?
