I'm having trouble replacing my PCM. I pulled the old one and am unable to get the "new" one to plug in. I've tried having someone pushing while ratcheting in the front fire wall. If anyone has any tips or suggestions that's be great. I wouldn't want to have to tow it to a mechanic just because I couldn't figure out how to plug it in.

Can you get it to hook up when not trying to mount it through the firewall? Meaning, are your sure the harness will plug up to it? The stud in the new pcm might be broken free and just spinning as you try to tighten it down.

are you talking about getting the connector on, or getting the new pcm in place in the firewall?

getting it into the holder in the firewall is a challenge, and I've figured it out but don't remember the trick off the top of my head. I think it involved loosening the rubber gasket or taking it off and then reinstalling the gasket after the pcm was in place, iirc.

That's what seems to be happening during installation I get it lined up properly, but when I'm trying to tighten the bolt is just spinning.

Take the pcm out of the car and line it up with the bolt from the connector so you can see if it's spinning inside

ah, sometimes the little nut insert thing breaks loose from the plastic of the pcm connector so that when you try to tighten the screw, nothing happens. I have successfully glued them back in place on occasion, but you have to be very careful where the glue ends up!

Agreed. I have seen several of the threaded nuts spin inside the PCM.
It's even more fun trying to remove them!

Luckily that wasn't the case. I fixed it the port was a little loose on the fire wall side and I re-approached this morning and fixed it in 15 mins with a friend it lined up perfectly and popped in my first try. Thanks for the suggestions and help.
