93 ATX won't revv past 4k in drive!

I know the ATX has a 4k rev limiter in park and neutral, but what if my car does this in drive as well?! Is it possible that the MLP is malfunctioning causing the car to think it's still in park? I've done all I can to diagnose this and this was the last thing besides a VSS.

Does it feel like the car is stopping itself? I.E., bouncing off a rev limiter?
Or does it feel like it literally can't? Like it's running out of air? Clogged cats, broken secondaries?

Well I managed to figure it out I think, car will not rev past 4k but will if I move the selector to 2 so this means a bad MLP. I will say this....as soon as the secondaries opened man did that sucker MOVE.

the mlps may just need adjusted - you can loosen a nut on the top of the trans and adjust (rotate) the switch some to make it work correctly. it needs to sense both park and drive for everything to work right...

The 93-95 ATX SHO is programed not to rev past 4K in park or neutrality is perfectly normal.

If you type in MLPS into the search function, there are threads on third and fourth pages that explains what some people did to adjust the MLP. I would check to see if it is loose or try cleaning the contacts before adjusting it.

On a lot of MLPS there is a hole in the housing and one in the aluminum case of the transaxle that will line up enough when the transaxle is shifted to neutral. You then insert a certaing size drill bit to align the MLPS body correctly and then tighten down the mounting bolts, and remove the bit. If I remember correctly though, the SHO's MLPS has slotted mounting holes, so... nevermind.

Yup, and I even took a memory course once at the local Community College. Don't remember how I did in it though. Think I might have flunked it.

That drill bit in the hole trick is for Subarus with auto transaxles.
