I have a 93 ATX and I just replaced the starter solenoid started after that and drove for 2 days. Yesterday morning went to gas station turned the car off and when I got back in it wouldn't start. I jiggled the wires around and after about 15 minutes it started. Last night I went to start it and it started so I turned it back offf and tryed again and nothing. SO I was wondering on the Solenoid do the 2 positive wires go on one post and the wire that goes into the start goes on the other. The little trigger wire goes on the post and the ground on the stud is that all right? If not let me know and if anybody know what it could be please help...

The two cables that come from somewhere else like the battery anf the under hood power panel go on one post of the solenoid, the post that has the most amount of threads. The little trigger wire should go on the little male spade terminal. Also make sure that you have the big ground cable from the negative side of the battery underneath one of the starter's mounting bolts. Make doubly sure that all the terminals are clean.

Make sure that all of the cables are tightened down. Alot of times, putting the starter back in will twist the wires enough to loosen them. Also, did you thoroughly clean all of the connections before you put it in? And while you are under there, check the fusible link (if you have one of the new starters) that is between the little wire at the post, and where it crimps back into the wire coming from the car.

I just did this last night so I feel your pain.

I went to get the car today and I tapped on the starter and it started up. SOunds like it is taking a high load off the battery....this would mean worn out starter right? If so can you get these factory ones rebuilt or do you have to buy the $200 ones at autozone?

Yep, your starter is bad.

Advance has a new/rebuilt? one for $99 + 35 core. I just bought one last night.

Have the battery tested while you're at it. Might as well.

DON'T GO TO A CHAIN FOR OUR STARTERS.... I've leanred the hard way... Have it rebuilt fully by a reputable shop and it will last you years, not 11 months like mine did..
