I have a good ATX (known to be good, I drove it around the block once and it shifted like it should). I would like to pull it apart, clean it up, and rebuild it. Is there a SHO specific kit? Does any one have a walk through written up? Maybe some sort of parts list? Last but not least
: What performance and upgrade work would be recommended. A Trans go shift kit is going to be used. I want this trans to outlast the car. :thankyou:

...above thread is in the 'how to' section. Lots of good info in there.

If it was my car, I would leave well enough alone. Change the fluid and drive it. If/when it starts acting up then deal with it then.

Most members don't rebuild their automatic transmission themselves - some have, there are a few threads out there.

The trans-go shift kit is a good one to have installed.

I installed a FoMoCo rebuilt unit a few years ago. Got it from the dealer for $1200.00, installed it myself and has a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. Not bad. Shifts great...and the 3 year warranty covers the tranny and R&R labor if it has problems.

This was the thread I was looking for. I am going to just slap it in and run it until it dies. I will at that time do the 5spd conversion.

That is a very good deal. Most aftermarket shops charge more and the warranty is not as good. Not to mention covering labor costs.
