I did a search here, but couldn't get clairification. I have a 92.

I'm at work in my suit and can't get at the compressor to see. Do I have the FS10 or the 10P15F?

I want/need to replace the clutch assembly and would like some advice on what all I should replace with it.

I looked up the A/C clutch at Autozone and for the FS10 it asked for either 3/8" in front or behind belt? What is that about? Is that the spacers/washers? Prices seem to be around $70-$80. I saw the one on e-bay go for over $70, plus $10 for shipping.

The 10P15F doesn't ask that question but?? Any advice guys/gal (Bizzy)

I know you all gonna ask how do I know it needs to be replaced....well I don't really, but I had my system recharged last year (spring) and before that it was cycling due to needing recharge. Once recharged it was great, but now the clutch doesn't cylce/engange when the a/c is on. I tried the spacer thing, but only had the one on there.

I really don't want to take it to a shop, and if I do I don't want to get ripped on the cost of parts if I can buy them myself and do some of the work alone, then get it recharged professionally.

Thanks to anyone!

10P15F. All 89-94 SHOs use this same AC compressor.

While it possibly is the clutch, you really need some diagnostic work done to keep from just throwing money and hoping you guessed correctly.

You'd be really upset to spent $100 on parts, plus whatever for labor only to find you guessed wrong.

OTOH, I suppose if it fixed it, you'd be ecstatic.

Ah, ****, just go play the slot machines if you feel lucky.

Well I own a SHO so I guess my luck isn't so good :)

You're right, I'll pay to get it diagnosed properly first, then look for the necessary parts (if any are needed other than recharge) before the work begins.

Thanks for the part verification!

SWSHO,

If you had to have it recharged, you have a leak.

Your current problem is most likely due to the same aforementioned leak. They do not fix themselves, nor do they get better.

First find the leak and fix the leak. Then vacuum and recharge the system.

Look at the posts in the last few weeks concerning testing the clutch coil and the compressor. There are also ample threads on how to properly recharge the system.

When you know more, let us know. Then maybe we can give you some more specific information.

As Steve said, do not start replacing parts in the hope of solving the problem, unless you just won the Lottery! rangerj
