92 SHO Stuttering...

Ok, Im not sure what the problem is here but sometimes, actually most times, when Im slowly accelerating in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear, my car stutters. It feels like a misfire which I guess it could be but I wanted to hear your opinions on it too. The car like shakes and sometimes I feel a clunk come from underneath the floorboards which Im assuming is a backfire. Whats weird is that it doesnt seem to happen in 4th or 5th gears and it doesnt happen at WOT

The same thing happens to me when i start out slow and when i downshift from 5th to 4th and 4th to 3rd.

Damn! This is getting worse! My CHECK ENGINE light has come on twice now but it went off after a while both times. And whats with the backfiring? Man I hope this isnt somthing expensive

I would check the ignition system and perform a self test on the computer to get error codes. Do you know how to check it without using a code scanner and watching the check engine lights flash the code.
