Whenever I apply the brakes from 70+MPH My steering wheel starts to shake pretty bad. I have 4 new tires, new rotors and brakes all around. I thought that the front brake pads my not have been contacting the rotor evenly but they are. Any ideas on what this could be?

Let's just say you have no excessively worn suspension components...were the lugnuts torqued down to spec?

Could be a worn tie rod end. Did you have an alignment done when all the brake components were replaced?

If you had new brakes done to the front of the car, I hope you did the 1996 upgrade to them.

That helps alot on braking at high speed :****:

Slo-Sho : My struts need to be replaced.(didm't shake with the old brake components. Lugnuts are at 100ft/lbs

smithsil : I haven't had an alignment done.

SMD69 : I thought the 96 upgrade was for the Gen I's. I'll have to do the upgrade then. I'll run a search for the info.

The 96 brake upgrade is not just a simple "bolt on" mod for 89-93 SHOs, it involves quite a bit of time and money.

you have warped rotors....get em recut

I would bring (if you dont want to inspect yourself) it to a shop to have the front end looked at. Usually they wont charge for an inspection and they can tell you whats bad (ie tie rod end, warped rotor, etc).

Ive never had a problem with AutoZone rotors and ive purchased many over the years. But I do suppose its possible that they are warped. Did you install them?

Before you replace the rotors i would make sure the rotor is seated perfectly flat and even on the knuckle; a small spec of dirt or rust behind the rotor can put it out of round, causing bad viberations such as you have described.

Front 96' Brake Upgrade

The 89' - 95' SHO's brakes are anemic at best. Warped brake rotors are a common problem and are often accompanied by severe brake fade. Brake fade is when you press the brake pedal down and the car feels like it is not stopping as fast as it should be. Upgrading the size of your rotors and pads remedies this problem. Using parts from the 96+ SHO, we are able to offer a brake kit that greatly reduces braking distances and eliminates brake fade on all but the hardest of braking. All of our kits include the following:

- 2 11.6 Inch brake rotors

- 4 Severe Duty, High Performance 598 brake pads

- 2 New Caliper brackets

For $279.99 http://www.midwestsho.com

Front Calipers are $80 pair www.autozone.com

Now for the nuckles.

You will need the ones for a 1994 or 95 SHO.

You can get it brand new from ford @ $350 per side or get them from a junkyard for$50 a side.

You will only need the 2 front nuckles.
