I have decided not to fix my 92 SHO and will now drive my Mother in laws 93 SHO ATX. I just did all 4 complete brakes on the 92 SHO about 3,000 miles ago. the 93 SHO needs brakes. so I swapped out the fronts, no problem. when I went to swap the backs, the rear rotors are different. the 92 are finned rotors while the 93 are thin rotors. can I just switch rotors and push the piston in further or can I put the 92 calipers on the 93? I would think the finned rotors on the 92 are better rotors because they would cool better on hard stops.

The rear calipers and rotors differs from one another.

Use the Vented rotors (and calipers) of your 92 on your 93 , many people claimed they are better.

Did you check the front rotors size? I think 93 rotor are slightly bigger then the 92. But i'm not 100% sure on this one.

I hope they were the same. the front calipers went on with no problem. tire spun freely and stopped when brake pedal was pushed.

I tried tonite but the swap will not work. I switched the brackets that you have to remove to get the rotors off. when I put the 92 onto the 93, the bracket sits just slightly to far towards the outside of the car causing the rotor not to be able to sit flush. it will rub against this bracket. the mounting points on the 92 are flush while the 93 has a small lip. guess I'll just keep the 93 non vented rotors on.

ONE MORE TIME!!!!!!!!

all the freakin rear spindles are exactly the same. it's ALL the stuff that attaches to them that is different. Rear brakes must be swapped as a complete set.

ALL includes: backing plate, caliper bracket, caliper, pads, rotor, hub/with bearing.

So, you can take the spindles with all the stuff attached and swap them, or leave the spindles where they are and swap all the stuff.

Perry,

I said SPINDELS, not knuckles. :thumb: You take the spindels off of the knuckles.

This is where it gets fun/confusing.

Ford Helms manual 1995 edition.

Page 04-00-02 shows item 8 as the front wheel knuckle. The bearing and hub attach to it.

Page 04-00-03, item 2 is the rear wheel spindle. Again the hub and bearing attach to it.

In the rear the big piece that the strut and control arms attach to and whereupon the hub mounts is a spindle.
