92 MTX battery light is on????

I have a 92 MTX i just replaced with a new battery ok. My problem is when the car starts up The battery light come on and stays on for about 2 minutes then goes out? Could this mean that I am in need of a new Altenator? Any help would greatly be apreciated thank you very much for your time and info.

I have a 95 atx and its doing the same thing heading to autozone to get it checked after work. You should do the same.

yes if the battary/charging light is on while the car is running, it shows a problem in the charging system. go get that tested, and probably replaced, soon, or it will wreck your new battary

hi,

i had the same issue about 6 months back, had a full test at pep boys and everything read fine. before i could get it checked at another place all my electronics started flashing on and off on the freeway on the way home from work one day and eventually lost all power as i got off at the closest exit. towed over to a shop the nex day and was tested again, this test said alternator dead, old battery was also toast. after new alt. and battery everything is fine.

same thing happend to me 3 days ago...now mine is all good
