I installed a '90 3.0 w/o egr in my '92 w/egr and of course the check engine light is on. The codes it shows indicated low egr flow. Will installing the ecu from the '90 make the codes go away along with the light?

92 w egr is kind of an oddball... what is the computer code on that? The 92's and older were XJ2's. I would imagine the other ecm would clear that up. I'd wait for someone to confirm this tho before you go buy an ECU. ;)

I'm not sure of the code. I have the ecu that came with the '90 engine; I was trying to make sure the non-egr and the egr ecu's were interchangeable before I plugged the '90 ecu into my car. I'll check the codes when I get home

Oh yea, if you already have it, it won't hurt anything that I'm aware... you may also want to swap over the CCRM as well. It's the box on top of the radiator that has about a 50 pin connector tied to it. I'm almost certian you need to have both of those compatible.

92's were weird years... and I've never seen one with an EGR. You should also have a little sticker inside the passenger side door jamb, up near the top hinge... white, square, about an 1" big... should have that code on it.
