Hey, i've been doing a lot of reading on the forum on brake upgrades. I currently have a 92 w/OEM sized cross-drilled and slotted rotors. What are some options for upgrading the brakes withouth going to the Gen III setup and changing knuckles and etc?

Two options with the knuckles you have:
Stick with the rotors and calipers you have, and get a set of nice pads such as Carbotech Bobcats, Hawk HPS, etc.
or
If Baer still offers it, there is a 12.5" Baer upgrade that uses the 89-93 knuckles.

Trust me you'll want to upgrade to 94/95 knuckles. From there do the 96 upgrade, its very simple and quite cheap.

TCE uses the pre-94 spindles for their brake kits. For rear brake upgrades, look no further than the gen 1 style vained rear rotors. TCE kits begin at $1400 i believe, which are 12.2" and should fit under the slicers. This would be a 4 piston setup which includes knuckles, rotors, longer studs, hub & bearing assembly. I believe it's roughly an additional $250 for 6 piston calipers. Add $60 or something like that for directional vaned rotors for the street kit. Road race kit (12.2 x 1.10 rather than the 12.2 x .81 street version rotors) requires aftermarket wheels due to wheel clearance from the wider rotors & larger diameter (13", as would the 13" street kit, though). Core is $200, but i'm unaware whether that's included or not in the price. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, that does help. I currently have 17 wheels, so i can go to a bigger setup. But i don't have a lot of money to put into it right now. So i wanted to go with something cost effective and still get a better affect.

You should go to the junk yard and pull the knuckles from a 94-95. I think they cost like less then $100 for the pair. Then you can either get a 96 or 13" upgrade. I found a 13" kit at DiskbrakesRUs for under $500. Might want to look into it.
