I ordered my y pipe from RCM Automotive and received it in the mail today!:woo-hoo: To my surprize it does not look the same as the pics I have seen on shosource and the rcm website. One there are 4 o2 sensor ports, when my car only has two? Can I block off the two o2 sensors after the cats? The second difference is that there are tabs on the pipe instead of hangers? For the third difference the flanges that bolt to the mid pipe and manifolds are solid instead of being set in. Has anyone else received a y pipe like this? Is it the right one sorry no pics I dont have photobucket!

The four o2 sensors are a dead giveaway that it is for a obd2 car (96 and up) as that system monitors the catalytic converters.
It would be nice to have extra bungs (sensor ports) on our system, as you can determine if something is failing (like a cat or muffler) by taking a pressue reading. On those hard to diagnose symptoms, it is nice to be able to rule out the exhaust system in one foul swoop.

UPDATE: I received the right y pipe this past monday and now I am two weeks away from purchasing a dynomax catback exhaust and putting a rod shift sytem in.

I was wondering when I go to purchase the catback system if the hangers on a 92-95 mtx are the same as the hangers on a 89-91?

You might want to consider the SHo Source Catback: SHO Source

it is a full stainless system unlike the Dynomax so it will last for years as opposed to the Dynomax which can rust out after a few years depending on conditions. Also it is 2.5" and you can select the mufflers you want.

The hangers are in the same spots, however the Dynomax system for the 92-95 cars has the oem style straight tailpipes, which sometimes contact the rear bumper on a Gen 1. There's three ways to get around this: 1) Use longer rubber hangers in the rear positions, so the tailpipes clear your bumber, 2) Cut off the Dynomax tailpipes and install turn-down tailpipes, or 3) Buy the SHOSource system Matt mentioned, which will last longer, and come with the turn-down tailpipes you need.

Personally, I think 3) is your best option, if you can swing it.

If you live anywhere near the rust belt stay away from dynomax. I have had mine for 3 years and I have rott holes in it already and MY CAR DOES NOT GET DRIVEN IN THE WINTER!!!! Just the moisture from the north is destroying their crap pipes.

It's the wrong pipe for an MTX, it must be for an ATX.

Photobucket is real simple if you ever want to post a pic; I just found that out...check it sometime. As said above this, don't try and modify the one that they sent you. NO '91 has four oxygen sensors, RCM messed up.

Edit: I also have a SHO Source catback, and it's worth the bux if you can swing it.

I have installed several Dynomax systems on the V6 SHO.
They fit just fine on the GEN I with a little tweaking.
If you do live in crappy weather, it won't last long.
Living in central PA, I can tell ya that I am on my second one in 10 years.

I also have the sho source exhaust on one of my car's. It's the best V6 SHO cat back ever made!

I was going back and forth on that subject but was going to have to wait longer for the sho source cat back and then I came across a full borla catback and went with that... I am VERY glad I did! The car has a great sound and with the high flow y pipe really opens the motor up!
