'90+ Gauge in '89 SHO?

I was wondering if anyone put just the gauges from a 90-95 in an '89? More specifically will it just plug in and work off of the '89 wire harness? I like the intereior of the '89, the only sore spot is trying to read how fast I am going. I know that I could do some modes to make it fit, but the only question is do I have to re-wire the whole thing.
